ICCF Portal
Competency certification portal for Manav Rachna University. Students take assessments and earn certificates; admins moderate the question bank. In development.
- Problem
- Universities measure exam marks, not skills like communication, ethics or teamwork.
- What I built
- A portal that runs timed competency assessments, scores a set of human-centric competencies, issues certificates and reports results by department.
- Outcome
- In development at Manav Rachna University.
- Role
- Lead developer, as a Project Intern at MR Impact
Tech: React 19, TypeScript, Firestore, Firebase Auth, Tailwind CSS, Vite
What it is
ICCF is a competency certification portal for Manav Rachna University. Students sit assessments, get a scorecard and earn certificates. Staff run the question bank and read the results by department.
Universities are good at measuring exam marks. They are much worse at measuring whether a student can communicate, work in a team or make an ethical call. ICCF is an attempt to measure those things in a structured way.
It is still in development. The source code is private, so this page covers what the portal does and leaves out how it works inside.
What I built
I am the lead developer. I built the portal as a project intern at MR Impact, Manav Rachna University, under Dr. Parneeta Dhaliwal, Director, IIC MRU.
The main pieces:
- Assessments. The portal scores a set of human-centric competencies (communication, empathy, ethics, resilience and others) alongside regular subject competencies.
- Question types. Likert scales, multiple choice, scenario-based multiple choice, ranking, and written answers. Written answers are graded against a rubric with help from an AI model.
- Scorecards. Each student sees a score and a level for every competency, a radar chart, and how they have changed across attempts.
- Certificates and reports. Certificates, transcripts, and assessment and department reports export as PDFs.
- Roles. Students, department heads, the core team and system admins each get their own dashboard.
- Question moderation. New questions are reviewed and approved before any student sees them.
- Exam-day handling. The timer and answers survive a page reload, so a flaky connection doesn't cost a student their attempt.
- Bulk onboarding. Staff can add a whole class of students and teachers from one spreadsheet.
How it fits together
The frontend is React 19 with TypeScript, Vite and Tailwind. Firebase handles sign-in and Cloud Firestore holds the data. Gemini helps with grading written answers, and Recharts draws the scorecards.
What's unfinished
The portal is still in development. Scoring soft skills is hard to get right, and the question bank and rubrics will need more review as staff start using them. I'd treat the AI-assisted grading of written answers as a first pass for a person to check.
